We invest in the company that constructs the project, not the project itself. The project is handed over, and the company runs minus THAT project.

Khimti hudropower was supposed to handover 50% of its share to GON on 2020, however, this has not happened so far. There is ongoing dispute between IPPAN and GON regarding various clause of the electricity act 2049. Clause 10 of the act says that projects with foreign investment of more than 50% must be handed over to the GON free of cost after the license period ends. So, there is some ambiguity around projects constructed with less than 50% foreign investment. Bro it doesn't work as you thought , hamle invest gareko company ma ho hydro project ma haina, ani yeuta project ko license expire vaye pani arko project bata income vairakhchha , hydro power companies doesn't rely on one project, they keep investing in different project. you can see at 5-6 year old listed hydro. ani kura rahyo hamle invest gareko share/money, it won't be going anywhere as company will be still there listed in nepse forever only the project that it operate gonna be handover to goverment.

For example, CHCL's 22mw Chilime hydropower was commisioned in 2003 and will be taken by govt after 35 years. CHCL paid the loans for its initial project and then set up three other bigger projects.

Basically, the public shareholder's investment will remain safe if the hydropower company has invested in other projects to make up for project handover after certain years. 

Think of a hydropower company like someone who sets up a tea shop on rented land with a 35-year lease. At first, they borrow money to build the shop, then spend years serving tea and slowly paying off the loan. Once the loan is fully paid, the tea shop starts making real profit. Instead of just enjoying the extra money, they use it to open more tea shops in other locations. Over time, even though the first tea shop must be handed back to the landowner after 35 years, they’ve already built several new ones that keep the business running and growing. This is how hydropower companies in Nepal stay profitable even when their first project has an expiry date.

You also need to add that the construction income from ifric 12 is added in reserve in the equity side and in intangible asset in the asset side which gets amortized on a straight line basis till the validity of the license which reduces net profit. 

You can easily find out the actual shareholders equity from annual report under changes in equity section.

Investors should research like you did before buying selling, these companies clearly say that this is not revenue from electricity, but construction revenue recognised as per IFRIC, people not reading and researching about is fault on their own.

The article and headline is a little misleading. It's misleading because they talk as if this is going to be a traditional hydroelectric dam until much later in the article.

TVA is proposing to build a **pumped storage hydroelectric facility.**  It is not "green energy" and it is not a hydropower plant designed to generate electricity from an abundant natural flow of water.

It is project that will change the landscape to build a "mechanical battery". The idea is to use excess electricity generated at night and off-peak times to pump water from a lower level reservoir to a higher level reservoir.  Later during times of heavy loads, the water is allowed to flow from the higher level reservoir back to the lower level reservoir through a turbine to generate electricity for the grid.

This form of electrical storage is not efficient or friendly to the native habitat, it's just cheap.

There are more efficient methods of energy storage that doesn't change the landscape as much, but cost more.

It seems most HPWHs install like any other WH except the need for more clear space around it. I wouldn't lead off with you want to install a HPWH. It really is just a normal unit on the outside.

I looked at the model the the water connections are on the top. So swapping it in should be trivial.

If were me I would buy one and then call a plumber to install it.

QuitCarbon account here in this subreddit might be able to help you with a contractor. And the $$$ LADWP is offering in incentives since 8 years ago probably helps with contractor selection.

The GeoSpring probably isn't in stock though. You probably need to get another gas WH (and this time pre-emptively prewire for 240V to allow emergency replacement to HPWH) or go with 120V 80 Gallon Rheem or something.

Just put mine in. Was prepared to pay a plumber until the estimates rolled in. 2-5k? Seriously? No ducting? No electrical work? 
Your only real concern, as long as your power is good, would be the condensation line which will produce a few gallons a day.
